Year of the Dog

Happy Chinese New Year 2018, the Year of the Dog! Specifically, the earth dog. In Chinese astrology, each year is associated with an animal sign as well as one of five elements: metal, wood, fire, water and earth. Lucky colors are red, purple, cyan and green along with ornaments in the shape of a tiger, horse or rabbit.

What to Expect in the Year of the Dog

The Chinese horoscope predicts an overall good year but not without a little elbow grease. Contracts and documents should be thoroughly read, and the old adage ‘if its too good to be true, it probably is’ will apply to matters of money. Steady, engaged work will attract approval and recognition within your area of expertise, especially for those involved in creative industries such as writers, designers and artists.

Patience as a virtue in matters of the heart is paramount. Nothing good comes from rushing a dog, and the same is true in relationships. Stop and smell the roses (dogs do!), and all good things will come to those who wait.

Those born in the year of the dog may be accident prone. Therefore caution is advised when handling potentially dangerous objects.

It’s a good time to stick to those new year’s resolutions — make health and safety a priority!
